EMILY DICKINSON. 303

303

Carlos D. Pulido (1967). Pintor español. Vestigios (Puerta N°1)

El Alma elige su propia Compañía—
Después—cierra la Puerta—
A su divina Mayoría—
Ausente ya—

Impasible—ve a las Carrozas—detenerse—
Ante su humilde Puerta—
Impasible—así un Emperador se arrodille
Sobre la Estera—

La he visto—entre numerosa grey—
Escoger sólo a Uno—
Y cerrar—luego— La Válvula de su atención
Como una Piedra—

(Traducción: Amalia Rodríguez Monroy)

The Soul selects her own Society—
Then—shuts the Door—
To her divine Majority—
Present no more—

Unmoved—she notes the Chariots—pausing—
At her low Gate—
Unmoved—an Emperor be kneeling—
Upon her Mat—

I’ve know her—from an ample nation—
Choose One—
Then—close the Valves of her attention—
Like Stone—
