875

John William Waterhouse (1849-1917). Pintor británico. Miranda, 1875.

Iba pasando de una Tabla a Otra
De manera cautelosa y lenta
Sobre mi cabeza sentía las Estrellas
Junto a mis Pies el Mar.

No sabía si el siguiente paso
Sería mi último paso—
Eso me otorgó ese Porte precario
Que algunos llaman Experiencia.

Traducción de Amalia Rodríguez Monroy

I stepped from Plank to Plank
A slow and cautious way
The Stars about my Head I felt
About my Feet the Sea.

I knew not but the next
Would be my final inch—
This gave me that precarious Gait
Some call Experience.

Emily Dickinson
